Hindu Festival To Kick Off Immigrant ‘Welcoming Week’

The Freedom Festival will bring the vibrant colors, food and traditions of South Asia to Champaign this weekend. The festival will kick off Welcoming Week, an initiative of the University YMCA’s New American Welcome Center, which works to help new immigrants flourish in the Champaign-Urbana area.

In Champaign, Hundreds Turn Out To Protest Trump’s Immigration Policies

Amid sweltering heat with index values of well over 100 degrees, hundreds of demonstrators turned out to protest the separation of children and parents at the U.S-Mexico border. The demonstration was one of more than 700 planned across the country on Saturday.
