Tim Nugent, The ‘Father of Accessibility’ at U of I, Dies at 92

Nugent died Wednesday morning.  For years, he advocated for wheelchair-accessible buses, curb cuts, and other amenities that those with disabilities have now used for many years.  His time with the U of I goes back to the late 1940's, when he helped wounded veterans coming back from World War II.

U of I Athletic Director Mike Thomas Fired

The University of Illinois has fired Athletic Director Mike Thomas. Barbara Wilson, the Interim Chancellor on the Urbana campus, said in a Monday morning news conference that a change in leadership was necessary. She said that "distractions" led to the decision after a law firm's findings brought on the firing of former football coach Tim Beckman at the start of the season.

Coach Henson Discusses Health, U of I Honors ... And Playing Bridge

It's been another year of health-related setbacks for Lou Henson, the winningest coach in Illini basketball history. About 12 years after battling cancer and encephalitis, he's been diagnosed with pre-leukemia, having to undergo stints of chemotherapy. 

He spoke with Jeff Bossert about how he's feeling, his strict physical routine, and the unveiling of Lou Henson Court.

U of I Argues Women’s BB Players’ Lawsuit Should Be Dismissed

The University of Illinois wants a judge to toss out a lawsuit filed by seven former members of the women's basketball team who allege they were the victims of racial discrimination.  The U of I argues that the sovereign immunity that prevents the state from being sued in federal court also covers the state university.
