Chicago Cardinal Francis George Dies At Age 78

Cardinal Francis George, a vigorous defender of Roman Catholic orthodoxy who played a key role in the church's response to the clergy sex abuse scandal, has died. He was 78.

Commotion In The Capitol Over State Pie

Finally, pumpkin pie might be getting the attention it deserves from lawmakers in Springfield. Illinois grows 95 percent of pumpkins processed in the United States, and lawmakers have proposed a bill making pumpkin pie the official pie of Illinois.

The U. S. Department of Agriculture describes a food desert as: a neighborhood or town without ready access to fresh, healthy, and affordable food. Instead of supermarkets and grocery stores, these communities may have no food access or are served only by fast food restaurants and convenience stores that offer few healthy, affordable food options.
