New Law Improves Oversight Of Used Tire Sites

A measure adding teeth to the supervision of tire processing centers is now law.  Governor Pat Quinn Thursday signed a bill brought on by a June 2013 fire at a facility in Hoopeston.

Kraft Foods Recalls 260 Cases Of Velveeta

Kraft is recalling Velveeta cheese from Walmart stores in as many as 12 states, mostly in the Midwest, because the cheese lacks the proper amount of preservatives.

Illinois Jobless Rate Falls To 7.5 Percent

The state Department of Employment Security says Illinois' unemployment rate fell to 7.5 percent in May. It was the third consecutive monthly decrease.

Indiana Argues Right To Pick Licenses To Recognize

The Indiana attorney general contends in a brief filed in the U.S. 7th Circuit Court of Appeals in Chicago that states have the right to decide which out-of-state licenses they choose to recognize, including marriage licenses.
