U Of I Symposium To Explore Solutions To Climate Change

A climate change symposium at the University of Illinois will honor Theodore "Ted" Brown, the first director of the Beckman Institute when it was founded in 1983. Brown spoke with Illinois Public Media about the challenges of confronting climate change and how society has changed since the 1970s when he wrote his first book on the issue.

U of I Breaks Ground On ‘Transformation’ Of Mechanical Engineering Building

The $41 million addition and renovation was made possible through a donation from 1981 graduate Sidney Lu, the first chairman and CEO of Foxconn Interconnect Technology Limited, a subsidiary of electronic manufacturing giant Foxconn.

Champaign Teachers Union Votes To Authorize Strike

The Champaign Federation of Teachers voted Thursday afternoon to authorize a strike, according to union president Jennifer White. The move comes after she said the union and Champaign District 4 officials failed to come any closer to a contract agreement during a bargaining session earlier this week.

Cynthia Cunningham is the Democratic challenger to incumbent Republican Mike Marron in the race for Illinois House in the state's 104th district. The resident of Royal, and first-time candidate, spoke with Illinois Public Media about which issues she thinks are most important to her district, such as changing the school funding formula and protecting the Middle Fork of the Vermilion River.
