Porter Appointed As Legislative Inspector General

The Illinois General Assembly has finally chosen someone to investigate ethics complaints against state legislators and staff. The position had been vacant for nearly three years.

At Least 26 Dead After Gunman Opens Fire In South Texas Church

Federal authorities are responding to a shooting at the First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs, Texas, in which at least 26 people are confirmed killed, and at least 20 others are reported wounded. Authorities say the shooter was later found dead in his vehicle.
