NPR journalists David Gilkey and Zabihullah Tamanna died a year ago this week, ambushed on a remote road in southern Afghanistan while on a reporting assignment traveling with the Afghan National Army. Moody’s Issues Another Round Of Credit Downgrades For State Universities

Moody’s Investors Service has once again downgraded its financial ratings for several of Illinois’ public universities. The downgrades announced on Friday includes the University of Illinois, Illinois State University, and Eastern, Southern and Northern Illinois Universities.

Judge: Illinois Must Make Medicaid Payments Faster

A federal judge on Wednesday agreed that Medicaid service-providers must be paid faster despite the ongoing budget impasse. 

But Judge Joan Lefkow declined to say how the state should go about making those payments, instead urging attorneys for Medicaid patients to continue negotiations with state comptroller Susana Mendoza.
