August 24, 2012

Champaign Police are investigating two incidents Thursday involving children that may be related.

Unit 4 schools report an attempted abduction just before 8 a.m.  A fifth grade female reports a man approached her while waiting for the school bus at Fifth and Columbia Streets.

The student says she refused an offer for a ride, but the man drove by a second time, and when she ran, the man reportedly yelled ‘I’m going to come after you’  before the girl reached home safely.

The suspect is described as a white male in his 20’s or early 30’s with short blond hair, and a light beard or mustache, driving a small, silver 4-door car.

Shortly before 4 p.m. at Williamsburg and Thornton Streets – police say a 7-year old boy was approached by two men in a black pickup truck who said something he didn’t understand, circling the area until the boy ran away.  The boy wasn’t hurt.

Both suspects are described white males, one with blue eyes, blond hair, and glasses, the other with blue eyes and short blond hair.  Anyone with information can contact Champaign Police or Crimestoppers.
