Illinois Democrats Vote Down Workers Comp Bill

Democratic legislators have voted down elements of Gov. Bruce Rauner's pro-business agenda.  All House Democrats voted against three measures, while GOP colleagues only voted present.

Millionaire Tax Proposal Fails

Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan's effort to impose a new income tax on millionaires has stalled.  Three Democrats voted no Thursday.  Madigan blamed Republicans, who he says were following Governor Bruce Rauner's orders for protecting the wealthy at the expense of the middle class.

Illini Fall To Maryland In Tourney, Ending Record-Setting Streak

Illinois' 2-1 loss to Maryland at the Big Tournament at Target Field ends a Big Ten record 27-game winning streak.  The Illini will now take on Michigan State in an elimination game Friday night at 7:30.

Senate Approves Landfill Measure

The bill that passed the Senate Thursday (HB 1326) deals with manufactured gas plant waste, which is called 'very dangerous' by co-sponsor Chapin Rose (R-Mahomet.)  The measure was inspired by efforts to keep PCB's out of the Clinton Landfill.

Inside The Supreme Court’s $10-Billion Arguments

The state's high court Tuesday heard oral arguments about whether to allow a $10 billion class-action verdict against a major cigarette maker stand.  Former Gov. Jim Thompson and another Phillip Morris
lawyer asked the court to strike that 2003 verdict.
