Economist: ACA Has Had Minimal Effect On Job Market

One of the arguments against passing the Affordable Care Act in 2010 was that it would have a negative impact on the job market.  Now that the law has taken full effect, economists Bowen Garrett and Robert Kaestner looked at what effect the ACA has had on jobs.

Arrest Follows Damages To Chabad Menorah

Damage to the symbol outside the University of Illinois' Chabad Jewish Center is estimated at about $2,269.  The menorah had already been replaced after vandals knocked it over in spring 2015.

Illinois State Fair Attendance Down

Despite ideal weather, State Fair officials report fewer than 412,000 people attended this year.  The state provided no explanation for the figure that was less than half the 961,000 who attended as recently as two years ago.

Gas Prices Should Fall Soon

Area motorists should see gas prices decline now that an Indiana oil refinery has completed unscheduled repairs.  In a statement this morning, B-P announced that a large distillation unit was re-started after being shut down on August 8th.

U Of I Announces Lou Henson Court At State Farm Center

The University of Illinois will name the new court at the State Farm Center after longtime Illini coach Lou Henson. The university announced the move Monday, saying the Lou Henson Court will bear the 83-year-old former coach's signature.
