Champaign’s ‘Renter’ Closing Its Doors

For employees and regular customers, the closure of That's Rentertainment means the loss of a social outlet, and something that can't be recreated through online streaming of material, or even a Facebook page.  Champaign-Urbana's last locally owned video store closes Sunday.

Pens To Lens Gala Features Student Screenplays

Imagine being a local student and seeing a screenplay that you wrote appearing on the big screen at Champaign's Virginia Theatre.  Twenty area K-12 students will have that opportunity this Saturday at the Third Annual Pens to Lens Gala.

University of Illinois officials did not approve a $400,000 bonus for outgoing Chancellor Phyllis Wise Wednesday afternoon. The vote was unanimous to deny the money after Wise resigned abruptly last week

U of I Trustees Reject Wise’s $400K Bonus; Wilson Assigned As Interim Chancellor

The UI Trustees executive committee rejected a $400,000 bonus for outgoing chancellor Phyllis Wise, along with her resignation.  She'll be reassigned as an advisor to President Timothy Killeen, who tapped Liberal Arts and Sciences Dean Barbara Wilson to replace Wise as interim chancellor.

Rauner: Reject $400K Bonus For U of I Chancellor

Rauner's Deputy Governor has written to U of I Trustees Chairman Ed McMillan.  Rauner said he has 'deep reservations' about the $400,000 bonus that Chancellor Phyllis Wise is to receive when her resignation takes effect Wednesday.

Durbin Addresses State Budget Stalemate, Embassy In Cuba

Addressing the state budget crisis, Durbin says leaders have yet to see the political crisis that comes with a government shutdown.  Illinois' senior U.S. senator was at the U of I Tuesday, calling for more funding for scientific and biomedical research.
