Davis: Trade Embargo With Cuba Won’t Be Lifted Soon

GOP Congressman Rodney Davis of Taylorville says despite the positive news coming out of President Obama's recent visit to Cuba, there are some obstacles before Congress will consider lifting the U.S. trade embargo with the island country.

Illinois Lawmakers Give Pot Decriminalization Another Try

State lawmakers are advancing another attempt to decriminalize possessing small amounts of marijuana, removing the possibility of jail time. But they face strong opposition from law enforcement and anti-pot advocates.

After Arrests, Illinois AD Gives Groce Another Endorsement

University of Illinois Athletic Director Josh Whitman has again assured basketball coach John Groce that his job is secure, despite poor team play and player arrests.  A Thursday afternoon press conference was held after the recent arrests of junior guards Jaylon Tate and Kendrick Nunn.

Durbin, Bustos Push For Trade With Cuba After Delegation Visit

Democratic Illinois U.S. Senator Dick Durbin and 17th District Congressional Democrat Cheri Bustos were among those who traveled to Cuba with President Obama this week.  Durbin says he witnessed a 'spirit of cooperation' that he hadn't seen before in the island countrry. The two are pushing for the end to the U.S. trade embargo with Cuba.

‘Love And Mercy’ and ‘Grandma’ On Final Slate Of Films At 18th Ebertfest

The final slate of six films for the festival, running April 13-17 at Champaign's Virginia Theater, include 'Love and Mercy', which depicts Beach Boy Brian Wilson at two stages of his life, Lily Tomlin's honored performance in "Grandma", and "L'Inhumaine", a 1924 silent French sci-film film to be accompanied by the Alloy Orchestra.
