U of I Trustees Approve Medical School, Killeen Starts In May

Startup costs of the engineering-based school are estimated at $100 million.  At their meeting Thursday in Urbana, U of I Trustees also announced that President-designate Timothy Killeen will start May 18.

Park Board Rejects Unit 4 Dodds Proposal

Requiring only a simple majority, three Champaign Park Board commissioners rejected the plan for a land swap with the school district to place a new Central High School in Dodds Park.

Oral arguments have begun before the Illinois Supreme Court on whether a massive state-employee pension bailout invalidated last fall by a lower court will be revived.

EPA Designates Mahomet Aquifer ‘Sole Source Aquifer’

The EPA on Wednesday said the Mahomet aquifer is primary water source for more than 750,000 people in central Illinois. That guarantees extra scrutiny of any project there that includes federal finances.
