New Champaign Mayor Sworn In

Former city council member Deb Frank Feinen was sworn in Tuesday tonight as Champaign's new mayor, along with other newly elected city officials, including new city councilman Matt Gladney.


Champaign City Manager Dorothy Davis runs through the proposed 2015-16 financial plan at the city building Tuesday.

Proposed Champaign Budget Doesn’t Account For Possible State Cuts

The Champaign City Council gets its first look at the suggested 2015-16 budget plan Tuesday night.  City staff have been asked to consider potential reductions coming from Gov. Bruce Rauner's proposed cuts in state-shared revenues, but there are no specific cuts in this plan.  


Vendors lined the parking lot selling produce, plants, sweets and more at the first Champaign Farmer's Market on Tuesday, May 5th.

New Champaign Farmers Market Tries A Few Things Differently

The Champaign Farmers Market will run every Tuesday evening through October 27th from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in downtown Champaign. They think the location, time and doubling SNAP benifits and more will help them be successful.

Education About Creativity and Personalization Not Standardization Says Sir Ken Robinson

World-renowned educator Sir Ken Robinson says education should be about helping children and young people understand the talents that lie within them, and about helping them become fulfilled individuals and compassionate productive citizens. He says this can be achieved if education becomes more personalized rather than standardized.

University Of Illinois Announces Graduate Cancer Program

Cancer Community @ Illinois in partnership with Carle Cancer Center will launch the Cancer Scholars for Translational and Applied Research (C*STAR) graduate educational program in the fall. The C*STAR program will give funding for six existing University of Illinois graduate students to work on a specific cancer research project for up to three years alongside a faculty member from the Cancer Community @ Illinois and a clinician mentor from Carle.
