President Obama Says Militants Who Beheaded American Are ‘Cowardly’

The extremist group that carried out the beheading of U.S. journalist James Foley engages in "cowardly acts of violence" and "has no place in the 21st century," President Obama said Wednesday, referring to the videotaped execution carried out by militants with the Islamic State.

Reporting On Ebola: An Abandoned 10-Year-Old, A Nervous Neighborhood

Monrovia, the capital of Liberia, is under nighttime curfew as that country struggles to contain the Ebola epidemic. On Wednesday, an entire neighborhood in Monrovia was quarantined, sealed off from the rest of the city by the government.

Video Purports To Show Beheading Of U.S. Journalist By Militants

Extremist group the Islamic State claims to have executed American journalist James Foley, who was abducted in Syria in 2012. The FBI is evaluating a video that was posted online Tuesday, purporting to show Foley's beheading.

Indiana Told To Honor Other States’ Gay Marriages

A federal judge has ruled Indiana must recognize same-sex marriages performed in other states, but says the ruling doesn't take effect until the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals rules on the matter.

Prayers For Peace In Ferguson

The archbishop of St. Louis says a Mass for Peace and Justice Wednesday will offer prayers for Ferguson.  At least two people were shot and 31 were arrested in clashes Monday night.

New Law Aims To Prevent Student Athlete Concussions

High school coaches and athletic directors now must take a concussion training course under a law signed by Gov. Pat Quinn.  A new law requires the IHSA to develop an online certification program.
