Madigan Misses Thursday Meeting With Rauner, Other Legislative Leaders

Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan didn't attend the third scheduled meeting between Governor Bruce Rauner and legislative leaders.  His spokesman said the Democrat had a 'conflict in scheduling', but didn't elaborate.

Ex-House Speaker Hastert Recovering From Stroke

Dennis Hastert, who pleaded guilty in late October to evading bank reporting laws, has been hospitalized after suffering a stroke just days later.  His attorney Thursday said the Illinois Republican has also been treated for sepsis and two back surgeries while hospitalized.

Judge Tosses Claims Against Former Illinois AD, Soccer Coach

Former athletic director Mike Thomas, who was fired last month, and soccer coach Janet Rayfield are no longer defendants in the lawsuit filed by former U of I soccer player Janet Rayfield.  Judge Jeffrey Ford says the suit didn't provide a basis for claims.
