Cow Deaths In Surgery Prompt Changes At U of I Vet Med

Five of the animals died following abdominal surgery last month.  A USDA inspection report means more vets and vet technicians monitoring students, having vetinary staff and student monitor animals after operations, and doing procedures in surgery suites.

Durbin’s Lead On Iran Deal Sparks Rumors: What’s Next For Illinois’ Senior U.S. Senator?

Illinois' junior, Republican Senator Mark Kirk -- opposes the nuclear deal with Iran. But the state's senior U.S. Senator Democrat Dick Durbin, has been key in sheparding it through Congress. That's provided grist for the D.C. rumor mill. Durbin is the Senate Democrats' No. 2, what's known as the minority whip. A job at which Durbin excelled when it came to the nuclear agreement.

Stop-And-Go Federal Highway Funding Could Get The Green Light

A three-year highway funding bill is on the Congressional docket this month. Illinois' Senior U.S. Senator -- Dick Durbin -- said he's hopeful the House will follow in the Senate's footsteps and approve a long-term plan.
