Education may once again receive special treatment from Republican Governor Bruce Rauner, when he presents his budget message to the Illinois General Assembly at noon on Wednesday.

Hill Leads Illini Past Rutgers, 82-66

Malcolm Hill scored 22 points and had 10 rebounds as Illinois cruised to an 82-66 victory over Rutgers on Tuesday night. Illinois snaps a two-game skid while the Scarlet Knights have lost 13 straight games. Maverick Morgan added 17 points for the Fighting Illini.

Champaign Cty Board Of Review Reaffirms Decision On Hospital Properties

The Champaign County Board of Review is leaving properties owned by Urbana's two hospitals on the property tax rolls, for now.  But an attorney representing both the Carle health system and Presence Covenant says the 3-member panel shouldn't make this decision without 'waiting for the legal dust to clear.'

Justice Antonin Scalia Dead At 79

Justice Antonin Scalia is dead. The influential conservative and provocative member of the Supreme Court was 79. The U.S. Marshals Service confirmed Scalia's death at a private residence in the Big Bend area of South Texas. The service's spokeswoman says Scalia was found dead Saturday morning when he did not appear for breakfast.

Springfield, State Team Up To Commemorate Obama’s Capital Ties

On Feb. 12 -- Abraham Lincoln's birthday -- officials released plans to salute another President with state ties. The Springfield mayor, governor and Illinois secretary of state announced a project to salute Obama's time in the capital city.
