Storms Hit Some Illinois Corn Fields Hard

The U.S. Department of Agriculture said this week that most of Illinois' corn crop is in great shape.  But some farmers in western and central Illinois suffered extensive damage from storms on Monday.

Quinn Halts IDOT Political Hiring

Gov. Pat Quinn has ordered a moratorium on political hiring at the Illinois Department of Transportation and is requiring executive-level staff in every state agency to undergo training about proper hiring practices.

Did Supreme Court Tip Hand On Future Contraception Cases?

The Supreme Court's opinion Monday  - holding that some for-profit firms don't have to provide women contraceptive coverage required under the Affordable Care Act if the companies have religious objections - addressed only half of the ongoing legal battle over the birth control mandate.
