70 Years After A Crucial Invasion, World Honors D-Day

Jim Mitsdarffer of Champaign landed on Omaha Beach on D-Day. He was taken captive during the war. Mitsdarffer spoke with Illinois Public Media in 1994 about preparing for D-Day. He died in 2000.

Milt Crippin of Danville landed on Utah Beach on D-Day. He said the biggest problem on that day was getting onto the beach. Crippin told his story to Illinois Public Media in 2007. He died in 2008.
