Darren Bailey is currently the State Senator for Illinois’ 55th District. He previously served one term representing the 109th District in the Illinois House. After Gov. Pritzker issued stay-at-home orders during the COVID-19 pandemic, Bailey sued him. He was later escorted off the floor of the Legislature in 2020 for refusing to wear a mask. In June 2022, Bailey was endorsed by former President Donald Trump. Bailey owns a family farm in Clay County and other counties, growing corn, soybeans and wheat.
