Americans have long had their political and ideological differences, but in recent years, the reaction to those differences has trended toward seeing the people they disagree with as opponents to be resisted instead of people to find common ground with or convince. 

The 21st was joined by an author and political analyst who has a new book on the subject to talk about it.
