Vicksburg

In follow-up to the popular 2011 tour, we’ll once again travel in restored 1950s-era sleeper train cars as we visit Vicksburg, New Orleans, Atlanta, the Kennesaw Mountain Southern Museum, the Chickamauga battlefields, the Civil War Cyclorama and the Southeastern Railway Museum. We’ll then head to Washington, DC, to tour the Smithsonian Museums and on to the Capital of the Confederacy, Richmond, to tour the Confederate White House. Back in DC, history expert Anthony S. Sept. 27-Oct. 7, 2012: Britain’s Masterpiece & Mystery!

Holmfirth Cafe

After arriving in Manchester, we travel to Holmfirth where Last of the Summer Wine producer/director Alan J.W. Bell gives us a personal sightseeing tour of the village. Then it’s on to Wales and Snowdonia, setting for the remake of The Forsyte Saga. We’ll also visit Chirk Castle where Masterpiece’s Casanova was filmed. Other highlights include The Cotswolds and the Stanway House featured in the 2008 film, Emma; Chavenage House, the setting for Tess of the D’urbervilles; Agatha Christie’s Greenway House; Highclere Castle, the setting for the hit series Downton Abbey; the village of Turville, featuring in The Vicar of Dibley; and the London locations of Sherlock, As Time Goes By and Upstairs, Downstairs.
