In Sheffield, Illinois, a small town of about 800 people, the community pulled together to save the Royal Super Mart, their only grocery store, from closing when the owner wanted to retire. Led by the local nonprofit Cornerstone Community Wellness, they raised over half a million dollars to buy and renovate the store.
