Dan Basse is President of AgResource Company. AgResource Co. is a domestic and international agricultural research firm located in Chicago, which forecasts domestic and world agricultural price trends. AgResource Co. provides information/research to farmers, elevators, soy and corn processors, wheat millers, food companies, trading companies, importers, exporters and meat packers. AgResource’s research is sold around the globe in 81 nations. Dan is an economist that has been in the commodity business since 1979. Raised on a dairy/grain farm in Waukesha, Wisconsin, Dan has a keen sense of production agriculture. Dan graduated from the University of Wisconsin, Madison in 1979, and has worked with Professional Farmers of America, Brock Associates and the ag research division of GNP Commodities in Chicago. In 1987, Dan founded AgResource Company to serve the needs of the US and world agricultural community.
Glen Ring is one of the nation’s most respected market analysts. With more than 35 years in the marketplace as a producer, hedger, broker, trader, technical analyst, researcher, seminary speaker and newsletter editor Glen brings a rich perspective to his work. Currently, Glen is President of Iowa-based Glen Ring Enterprises, which provides information, education, research and support to his fellow traders, analysts and leaders in the futures industry. Glen produces the bi-weekly View On Futures newsletter and the View On Futures daily update.
Bill Moore founded W.B. Moore, Inc. to help farm owners, commercial real estate investors and business owners adopt appropriate strategies for deferring the income tax on the sale of their properties. With his legal training and experience and training from a top business school – the University of Chicago—Bill is uniquely qualified to advise on tax deferral strategies and real estate investments for individuals and small to medium companies. Bill is admitted to practice law in the states of Illinois, New York, California and Utah. He is also licensed as a real estate broker in the state of Illinois and holds a Series 7 and a Series 63 license as a securities broker.
Gary Schnitkey is a professor and farm management specialist in the Department of Agricultural and Consumer Economics, University of Illinois. His activities focus on farm management and risk management including crop insurance evaluation. Gary has focused on aiding farmers in understanding the risk and return tradeoffs of different crop insurance policies. Gary is a co-developer of several on-line and and spreadsheet tools. Three of these are the 1) Ifarm Premium Calculator – a web-based tool that provides side by side comparisons of insurance premium, 2) Ifarm Insurance Evaluator – a web-based tool that provides risk-return evaluations of insurance products, and 3) Marketing and Crop Insurance Risk Model – a spreadsheet that evaluates alternative crop insurance and marketing strategies. Gary grew up on a grain and hog farm in northwest Ohio. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from The Ohio State University and a Masters and Ph.D. from the University of Illinois.
Meteorologist Ed Kieser has been with AM 580 since 1987. Ed holds the American Meteorological Society’s Seal of Approval for weather casting on both radio and television. Ed was just the 11th person in the country and the first in Illinois to receive the award, which is the highest broadcast certification from the AMS. Ed was named 2001 Best Media Personality by readers of the Champaign-Urbana weekly, The Octopus. And he has been awarded a University of Illinois Campus award for Excellence in Public Engagement for his work on tornado safety. Ed also teaches weather classes at Parkland College in Champaign.
