Tropical Treasures (1017)

Atomic Age logo with an illustration of a tropical landscape. There's an image of a palm tree on the left and a portrait of a woman with long hair with flowers a the top of her head. Text reads Episode 1017 Tropical Treasures

"Tropical Treasures" is the theme of this week's show, featuring all sorts of musical escapism most focused on the lounge genre known as exotica. It was a musical style popular in the late 1950s and early 1960s. It was a way for folks in cities and suburbs to escape the harsh and drab urban jungle and live out their fantasies of lush and colorful tropical paradises. We'll hear from Arthur Lyman, Robert Drasnin, Jeri Southern, Eden Ahbez and many more.
