The suite was a favorite form in the Baroque era. By the late 19th century the suite was used by composers of ballets, operas or incidental music to concentrate or salvage the best moments of longer works and reuse them in a concert setting. Thus music could outlive its first form to the economic benefit of composers. We will play movements of some famous suites.
