Evening Concert

All-Russian Program including ‘Rite of Spring’

Tonight we'll have  the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Charles Dutoit leads the group in an all-Russian program with Mussorgsky’s “Pictures at an Exhibition,”  Tchaikovsky’s 1st Piano Concerto with soloist Daniil Trifonov and the centennial “Rite of Spring” by Stravinsky.

The “Rite of Spring” had its premiere 100 years ago this coming May 29. There were actual fistfights in the audience that night.  Hear what all the fuss was, and still is, about.
