Healing the Broken-Hearted

March 14, 2013

Tonight, on what will mark the three-month anniversary of the shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn., WILL-FM will broadcast a memorial concert that features seven of Chicago's finest children's choirs.

Conductor Doreen Rao directs the participants of Soul Children of Chicago, Chicago Children's Choir, Anima Young Singers of Chicago, Pro Music Youth Chorus and the Red Rose Children's Chorus in the program that originates from St. James Cathedral.

Healing the Brokenhearted features American music, including a newly commissioned Requiem Mass by Lita Grier, interspersed with contributions from a roster of interfaith leaders and celebrated vocal artists. The host for the broadcast is 11-year-old violinist Masha Lakisova.
