Schumann’s “Op. 47 Piano Quartet” and “Early Music Now” on the “Evening Concert”

 

Tonight at 7:00 on the Evening Concert on FM 90.9 you’ll hear Schumann’s “Opus 47 Piano Quartet” on “The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center”.  At 8:00 you’ll hear music by Marenzio and  “Music from the Polish Court” by Mielczewski on “Early Music Now”.

Music from the Polish Court

The Sixteen, directed by Eamonn Dougan, give us a peek into musical life at the court of Sigismund III Vasa (1566-1632) who favored Italian composers like Luca Marenzio. Charles Ferdinand Vasa (1613-1655) preferred homegrown composers like Marcin Mielczewski, and we'll hear his works performed by Weser Renaissance Bremen.
