A central Illinois congressman is ready to vote for tax cuts.

Rodney Davis, a Taylorville Republican, says although details have not been released, he supports a tax framework that would benefit the poor and and middle class.

There is pressure on both parties to cut taxes. "We have many in Washington that follow the same path that Republicans did to Democrats when they were in complete control just a few years ago—just to vote ‘no’ on everything; that’s the path many want to follow and I hope we can change that. I really do," Davis said.

It appears, though, the partisan divide is still there on this legislation.

The Senate late Thursday night approved a budget resolution 51-49, with all 48 Democrats voting no. That resolution is expected to pave the way for tax legislation.

Democratic Illinois Senators Dick Durbin and Tammy Duckworth released statements after that vote saying the GOP tax plan would mostly benefit the rich.
