Kennedy Thinks McMillan Will Be New U of I Trustees Chairman

Outgoing University of Illinois trustees Chairman Christopher Kennedy believes current trustee Edward McMillan will be his replacement.

The university's board of trustees is expected to vote Thursday on a new chairman. The trustees oversee the university's three campuses.
 
Kennedy plans to step down when his term ends on Monday.
 
He told The News-Gazette that other trustees appear to all support McMillan.
 
McMillan has been a trustee since 2009. He is a former president and CEO of Purina Mills Inc. and is from Greenville, about 40 miles east of St. Louis.
 
Kennedy is a Democrat and announced plans to step down assuming that Republican Gov. Bruce Rauner would not reappoint him. McMillan is a Republican.
 
Rauner will have to name replacements for Kennedy and another retiring trustee, Pam Strobel.
