The Kenyan Ambassador to the United States hopes an exhibit at the University of Illinois' Krannert Art Museum draws people from both countries together.

Kenya has loaned art from its museums to Krannert for this exhibit, called "World on the Horizon: Swahili Arts Across the Indian Ocean."

Ambassador Robinson Githae says tourism is a big part of Kenya’s economy, and the United States sends the most tourists to Kenya. He hopes the art exhibit will teach visitors more about Africa.

"We feel this will cement and deepen our relationship with the United States," Githae said.

The exhibit will be on display at Krannert Art Museum until March 24, 2018, and will then tour the country with stops at the Smithsonian Museum of African Art and the Fowler Museum at UCLA.
