Imagine being a local student and seeing a screenplay that you wrote appearing on the big screen at Champaign's Virginia Theatre.  Twenty area K-12 students will have that opportunity this Saturday at the Third Annual Pens to Lens Gala.

The films will be divided into two screenings.  The first screening at 2pm will feature screenplays written by students in kindergarten through 8th grade.  Saturday's second screening spotlights films written by students from 8th grade through high school and begins at 6pm.

Illinois Public Media's Brian Moline spoke with local filmmaker Thomas Nicol about this year's Pens to Lens Gala.  Nicol serves on the Pens to Lens Planning Committee, and is also the head of Champaign Moviemakers and a member of the Champaign-Urbana Film Society Board.  Nicol was featured in WILL's ARTS BTS series earlier this year.
