Eighteen young screenwriters will see their work come to life Saturday at the Virginia Theatre in downtown Champaign during the fourth annual Pens to Lens Screening and Awards Gala. More than 200 area students from kindergarten through 12th grade submitted screenplays for consideration.  From those submissions, local filmmakers chose 18 of them to make into movies.

Illinois Public Media’s Brian Moline spoke with two of this year’s filmmakers, Thomas Nicol and Rachel Berry about Pens to Lens, and how the event has grown over the last four years.
