Telecom Atty Blair Levin on Expanding High-Speed Broadband
When UC2B announced Thursday that it had found a private partner for the expansion of its high-speed broadband service, telecom lawyer Blair Levin was there.
Levin is an expert on high-speed broadband, having directed work on the FCC’s 2010 National Broadband Plan.
He’s currently executive director of Gig. U, a consortium of research universities -- including the University of Illinois - formed to promote the development of faster and more powerful data networks in the U. S.
America is not a leader when it comes to Internet performance. Some 30 countries have faster average download speeds.
But Levin says American telecom companies are showing greater interest in investing in high-speed broadband networks - as he explained in this interview with Illinois Public Media’s Jim Meadows.
