The year 1927 was the 100th year commemoration of Beethoven’s death. Recording companies resolved to make it a milestone year. Electrical recording had arrived in 1925, and in London, the first complete set of Beethoven symphonies was recorded in the new sound. I’ll play recordings by those conductors who made that centennial so memorable.

H1N1 vaccine

Beginning Nov. 19, WILL-TV, WILL-AM and WILL-FM will air H1N1 flu updates presented by Julie Pryde from the Champaign-Urbana Public Health District.  The one-minute spots, produced at WILL, will provide up-to-date information including availability of vaccine and prevalence of flu in the community.

Bill Moyers

Moyers to Retire; "Now" Cancelled

PBS veteran Bill Moyers has announced his retirement from weekly television. As reported in the New York Times and elsewhere, Moyers will end his Friday night PBS series Bill Moyers' Journal on April 30, 2010. That same evening, the public affairs weekly Now on PBS will also end, having been cancelled by the Public Broadcasting Service.
