There was a funeral I missed this morning, and I didn’t mean to do so. For the last year you’ve maybe heard me mention from time to time heading to the tavern in Elkhart for fried chicken on Wednesday nights. I try to get there every three weeks or so to have supper with dad because, well, it’s dad. He meets Joe and Bev Buttell there every Wednesday night. They won’t be there tonight... they ate fried chicken today instead and Joe’s funeral. Can’t believe I missed it. I’m so sorry. This earth has lost another farmer. One that won’t be replaced. One that was there my entire life. Joe Buttell was the quietest man I’ve ever known, but he listened to every word. We could all learn something from him.
Darrel Good thinks this morning's Grain Stocks report has left things fairly muddled for the corn market. The 1.2 billion bushels of early harvested corn USDA reported in the Sep 12 Crop Production report had made that fact clear a couple of weeks ago. Still, Darrel has some thoughts on the matter. You can listen to his conversation with Todd Gleason.
