The Evening Concert

Tuesday night July 19 at 7:00 on the Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra Radio Broadcast”.  Inon Barnatan is the soloist in Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue” and Ravel’s “Piano Concerto in G Major”. 

Monday night July 18 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”. Leonard Bernstein conducts the Philharmonic in his “Symphonic Dances from West Side Story” and the Overture to Candide.  Also on the program Copland’s “Clarinet Concerto”.

Sunday night July 17 at 6:00 on FM 90.9 the “Evening Concert” starts with Beethoven’s “12th String Quartet” from Santa Fe, followed at 7:00 by Mendelssohn’s “2nd String Quartet” from Lincoln Center and at 8:00 by “Fiesta’s” program on Teresa Carreño.

Thursday night July 14 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s the first program from the “Deutsche Welle Festival Concerts” series. Kirill Petrenko leads the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra in Tchaikovsky’s “Rome and Juliet Fantasy Overture” and “3rd Orchestral Suite”. Also on the program Rachmaninoff’s “2nd Symphony”.

Wednesday night July 13 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s the second program in a new season from the “Los Angeles Philharmonic”. Soprano Camilla Tilling is the soloist in Mahler’s “4th Symphony”. Music Director Gustavo Dudamel conducts. Also on the program Steven Mackey’s “Fantasy for Trumpet and Orchestra”.

Tuesday night July 12 at 7:00 on the Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra Radio Broadcast”. You’ll hear an award-winning recording of Mahler’s “1st Symphony”. Carlo Maria Giulini conducts. Also on the program Mozart’s “K. 297 Sinfonia concertante” and Prokofiev’s “Classical Symphony”.  

Monday night July 11 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”. Leonard Bernstein conducts the Philharmonic in his “Chichester Psalms”, Bach’s “5th Brandenburg Concerto” and Schumann’s “Mandfred Overture”. Also on the program music by Debussy, and Virgil Thomson.

Sunday night July 10 at 6:00 you'll hear Berg’s “Chamber Concerto” from Santa Fe, followed at 7:00 by Mozart’s “K. 515 Viola Quintet” from Lincoln Center and at 8:00 by “Aura: A Mexican Opera” on “Fiesta!”.

Thursday night July 7 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s the “The New York Philharmonic This Week” program that was postponed due to the 4th of July Holiday. You’ll hear Strauss’ “Don Quixote” and “Ein Heldenleben”.

Wednesday night July 6 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s the first program in a new season from the “Los Angeles Philharmonic”. Soprano Golda Schulz is the soloist in Strauss’ “Four Last Songs’. Music Director Gustavo Dudamel conducts. Also on the program Strauss’ “Death and Transfiguration”.
