Sunday night June 19 at 6:00 on FM 90.9 the “Evening Concert” starts with Messiaen’s “Quartet for the End of Time” from Santa Fe, followed at 7:00 by Beethoven’s Op. 20 “Septet” from Lincoln Center and at 8:00 by music of Latino composers in the US on “Fiesta!”.
Thursday night June 16 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra. From their archives you’ll hear Bernstein’s “Serenade (After Plato’s “Symposium”)” and Copland’s “Quiet City”. Music Director Laureate Edo de Waart conducts. Also on the program John Adams “Harmonielehre”.
Wednesday night June 15 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s the “Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra”. Lorna McGhee is the soloist in Kaija Sarriaho’s “Flute Concerto”. Osmo Vanska guest conducts. Also on the program Mendelssohn’s “3rd Symphony” the “Scottish” and Beethoven’s “Overture to ‘Egmont’”.
Tuesday night June 14 at 7:00 on the Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra Radio Broadcast”. You’ll hear Beethoven’s “7th Symphony” and Handel’s “1st Water Music Suite”. Music Director Riccardo Muti conducts. Also on the program two concertos by Vivaldi featuring CSO principals as soloists.
Monday night June 13 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”. Reri Grist is the vocal soloist in Mahler’s “4th Symphony”. Also on the program the “Adagio” from Mahler’s “10th Symphony” and the opening movement to Mahler’s “8th Symphony”.
Sunday night June 12 at 6:00 on FM 90.9 the “Evening Concert” starts with Mozart’s K. 407 “Horn Quintet” from Santa Fe, followed at 7:00 by Saint-Saen’s “Violin and Harp” from Lincoln Center and at 8:00 by colonial era Latin American classical music on “Fiesta!”.
Thursday night June 9 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra. Augustin Hadelich is the soloist in Beethoven’s “Violin Concerto”. Music Director Laureate Edo de Waart conducts. Also on the program Nielsen’s “5th Symphony” and Mozart’s “39th Symphony”.
Wednesday night June 8 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s the “Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra”. Helene Grimaud is the soloist in Brahms’ “1st Piano Concerto”. Music Director Manfred Honeck conducts. Also on the program Tchaikovsky’ “4th Symphony” and Glinka’s “Overture to ‘Ruslan and Ludmilla’”.
Tuesday night June 7 at 7:00 on the Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra Radio Broadcast”. Nicola Benedetti is the soloist in Prokofiev’s “2nd Violin Concerto”. Michael Tilson Thomas guest conducts. Also on the program Tchaikovsky’s “6th Symphony”, the “Pathetique”, and Stravinsky’s “Concerto for String Orchestra”.
Monday night June 6 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week” that features soloists from the Philharmonic. Anthony McGill is the soloist in Mozart’s “Clarinet Concerto”. Robert Langevin is the soloist in Mozart’s “2nd Flute Concerto” and Rouse’s “Flute Concerto”.
