Organizers expect between 400 and 750 people to attend the 2018 Chambana Job Fair on Thursday. Arrow Glass, Heartland Dental, and Human Kinetics are among the roughly 90 employers expected to be on hand.

Lorianne Bauer is a member of the Executive Chambana Job Fair Planning Team. The job fair organizer says many employers have been struggling lately to fill positions, with unemployment in Champaign-Urbana currently less than four percent

“It’s very very difficult to get enough qualified people, or people that can pass through all of your employment requirements and get jobs filled timely right now," Bauer said.

She says sometimes that makes events like this job fair even more important, since employers can meet candidates who they may not have considered otherwise.

“It’s just, you know, people come to life off of paper," Bauer said.

She says the event also offers resume help, mock interviews, and career workshops so job seekers can land the positions they’re looking for.

The career fair is presented by the Central Illinois Human Resources Group and the Champaign County Regional Planning Commission. It takes place on Thursday May 10 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Hilton Garden Inn on 1501 S. Neil Street Champaign, IL 61820.
