The Fifth Annual Pens to Lens Gala and Screening is Saturday at the Virginia Theatre in downtown Champaign.

That’s the end result of the annual student screenwriting and filmmaking competition, where 16 student screenplays and four student films will be shown on the Virginia’s big screen.

Illinois Public Media’s Brian Moline spoke with two Pens to Lens board members, AJ Christensen and Rachel Berry, about this year’s event. Christensen says the filmmaking portion of the competition continues to grow.

There are two shows, the first at 2pm features films appropriate for younger children.  The second screening at 6pm has some films with more mature themes that are geared toward viewers over the age of 13.

You can find details on the Pens to Lens Facebook page.
