Milwaukee Symphony, CSO, Pittsburgh Symphony, New York Philharmonic on “The Evening Concert”

This week on “The Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 you’ll hear the first programs in a number of new series: the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra in Mondays, the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra on Wednesdays, and the Gilmore International Keyboards Festival on Sunday. The CSO and “The New York Philharmonic This Week” continue on their usual nights of Tuesday and Thursday respectively.

“New Year’s Day From Vienna” on a special daytime “Evening Concert”

Join us Thursday morning, January 1, 2015 at 10 a.m. for a special daytime "Evening Concert": "New Year's Day from Vienna". Every New Year's Day evening the Philharmonic presents its ever-popular annual concert from the Golden Hall of the Musikverein in Vienna. You'll hear your favorite waltzes, polkas and more. This will be a live event from Vienna slated to start at 5:00 p.m. local time. [There is a 7-hour time difference between Vienna and Champaign].

William Walton’s 1st Symphony with the CSO, Semyon Bychkov conducting

Tonight at 7:00 on the Evening Concert on WILL-FM 90.9 you’ll hear William Walton’s 1st Symphony from the Chicago Symphony Orchestra with Semyon Bychkov guest conducting. Also on the program, Prokofiev’s 2nd Piano Concerto with Kirill Gerstein as soloist and Poulenc’s Concerto for Two Pianos.

Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto, “Toast of the Nation”, Gilmore International Keyboard Festival

This week on “The Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 you’ll hear the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto with soloist Christian Tetzlaff, William Walton’s 1st Symphony from the CSO, then on Wednesday, the Aspen Music Festival followed by NPR’s “Toast of the Nation”, Thursday it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week” and Sunday chamber music from Lincoln Center and Gilmore International Keyboard Festival.
