The Evening Concert

Friday night October 24 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on “Illinois Classical” you’ll hear a program new to our schedule coming to us from the Heifetz International Music Institute in Staunton (STAN-tun), VA called “Heifetz On Air”. Tonight’s program is called “North By Northeast”.

Wednesday night October 22 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on “Illinois Classical” you’ll hear the third program in a new season from the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Alexandre Kantorow is the soloist in Rachmaninoff’s “Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini”. Also on the program Rachmaninoff’s “3rd Symphony”.

Tuesday night October 21 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on “Illinois Classical” it’s the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra Radio Broadcast”. From this year’s Opening Night at the Ravinia Festival Marin Alsop guest conducts Stravinsky’s “The Rite of Spring” and Rachmaninoff’s “Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini”.  

Monday night October 20 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on “Illinois Classical” it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”. From the Philharmonic’s large discography, you’ll hear Brahms’ “4th Symphony” and “Variations on a Theme by Haydn” as well as music by Arnold Schoenberg.

Sunday night October 19 at 6:00 on the “Evening Concert” on “Illinois Classical” you’ll hear music by Aaron Copland and others on the “Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center”. At 7:00 you’ll hear a program called “Heroes and Liberators” on “Fiesta”.

Friday night October 17 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on “Illinois Classical” you’ll hear a program new to our schedule coming to us from the Heifetz International Music Institute in Staunton, VA called “Heifetz On Air”. Tonight’s program features music by Leonard Bernstein.

Wednesday night October 15 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on “Illinois Classical” you’ll hear the second program in a new season from the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Yefim Bronfman is the soloist in Beethoven’s “Emperor” Piano Concerto. Also on the program Tchaikovsky’s “6th Symphony”. 

Tuesday night October 14 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on “Illinois Classical” it’s the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra Radio Broadcast”. Guest conductor Osmo Vänskä leads the CSO, CSO Chorus, Uniting Voices Chicago Chorus and vocal soloists in Carl Orff’s “Carmina Burana”.

Monday night October 13 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on “Illinois Classical” it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”. You’ll hear Berlioz’s “Harold in Italy”, Ravel’s “Noble and Sentimental Waltzes”, and Debussy’s “Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun”.

Sunday night October 12 at 6:00 on the “Evening Concert” on “Illinois Classical” you’ll hear music by Korngold and others on the “Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center”. At 7:00 you’ll hear music by three living Argentinian composers on “Fiesta”.
