The Evening Concert

Monday night March 24 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on W-I-L-L 90.9 FMHD1 it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”. From the Philharmonic’s vast archives, you’ll hear Copland’s “Appalachian Spring”, Vaughan Williams’ “Fantasia on Greensleeves”, Debussy’s “La Mer” and Ravel’s “Tzigane”.

Sunday night March 23 at 6:00 on the “Evening Concert” on W-I-L-L 90.9 FMHD1 you’ll hear Brahms’ “2nd String Quintet” and Alban Berg’s “String Quartet” on the “Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center”. At 7:00 it’s “Fiesta of the Guitar” on “Fiesta”. 

Friday night March 21 at 7:00 on W-I-L-L 90.9 FMHD1 it’s “Early Music Now with Sara Schneider”. You'll hear a program titled “Vive, Adriano!”. Broadcasting this program Friday nights at 7:00 permits us to collect new local recordings for use on future “Prairie Performances”.

Wednesday night March 19 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on W-I-L-L 90.9 FMHD1 it’s the Cleveland Orchestra. You’ll hear soprano Liv Redpath as the soloist in Gustav Mahler’s “4th Symphony”. Daniel Harding guest conducts. Also on the program a new work by Betsy Jolas.

Tuesday night March at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on W-I-L-L 90.9 FMHD1 it’s the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra”. You’ll hear Sibelius’ “Violin Concerto” featuring Jascha Heifetz, Dvorak’s “Cello Concerto” featuring Jacquelin Du Pre, Richard Strauss’ “Burleske” featuring Byron Janis and Mahler’s “Songs of a Wayfarer”.

Monday night March 17 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on W-I-L-L 90.9 FMHD1 it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”. You’ll hear an all-star cast perform a concert version of Janacek’s opera “The Cunning Little Vixen”. Soprano Isabel Bayrakdarian sings the title role. Alan Gilbert conducts.

Sunday night March 16 at 6:00 on the “Evening Concert” on W-I-L-L 90.9 FMHD1 you’ll hear Saint-Saens’ “Caprice on Danish and Russian Airs” and Chausson’s “Concerto for Violin, Piano, and String Quartet” on the “Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center”. At 7:00 it’s “Exploring the Roots” on “Fiesta”.
