Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM … it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”. Artist-In-Residence Emanuel Ax plays Haydn’s “Piano Concerto No. 11 in D Major”. Alan Gilbert conducts. Also on the program Gilbert’s arrangement of Leinsdorf’s arrangement of Wagner’s music from “The Ring” cycle.
Tonight at 7:00 on "The Evening Concert" on WILL-FM, it’s the Los Angeles Philharmonic led by guest conductor and composer John Adams. It’s an all-American-music program with Michael Gordon’s “Sunshine of Your Love”, written in 1999, Terry Riley’s “At the Royal Majestic” which was written just last year…., and John Adams “Naïve and Sentimental Music” from 1998.
Tonight at 7:00 on WILL-FM’s, “Evening Concert” Cristian Macelaru conducts Stravinsky “Miniatures”. CSO Principal Clarinetist John Bruce Yeh is the soloist in the “Three Pieces for Clarinet Solo”. Also on the program the “Suite No.1 for Small Orchestra, the Pulcinella Suite, Three Japanese Lyrics, and the “Cat’s Cradle Songs”.
Tonight at 7:00 on “The Evening Concert” on WILL-FM: it’s “Canyengue” on “Fiesta!. The word Canyengue is Brazilian slang from the African Ki-Kongo language which means “melting with the music.” Host Elbio Barilari explains the African influence on Latin American concert music with music by Camargo Guarnieri, Lamarque Pons, Amadeo Roldan, Ricardo Lorenz and others.

Garrick Ohlsson is the soloist in perhaps the most-beloved of all of Mozart’s piano concertos, the 21st in C, K.467. Also on the program, concentration-camp-copmoser Erwin Schulhoff’s “Scherzo from the 5th Symphony”.
Tonight at 7:00 on WILL-FM’s, “Evening Concert” CSO Principal Oboist Eugene Izotov is the soloist in Bohuslav Martinu’s “Oboe Concerto” with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Maestro Riccardo Muti conducts. Also on the program Wagner’s “Flying Dutchman” Overture, Scriabin’s “The Divine Poem” and Haydn’s 34th Symphony.
