The Evening Concert

Thursday night December 7 at 7:00 on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s “The Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival” You’ll hear Schumann’s “Opus 44 Piano Quintet” and Bach’s “5th Brandenburg Concerto”. At 8:00 it’s “The Middle”: a weekly, non-partisan call-in talk show on politics.  

Wednesday night December 6 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra. Joyce Yang is the piano soloist in Mozart’s “24th Piano Concerto”. Yaniv Dinur guest conducts. Also on the program Dvorak’s “In Nature’s Realm” and Lutoslawski’s “Concerto for Orchestra”.

Tuesday night December 5 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra Radio Broadcast”. You’ll hear Ravel’s “Mother Goose” and Stravinsky’s “Symphony in Three Movements”. Esa-Pekka Salonen guest conducts. Also on the program Bryce Dessner’s “Violin Concerto” with soloist Pekka Kuusisto.

Monday night December 4 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”. You’ll hear Beethoven’s “Violin Concerto” with soloist Frank-Peter Zimmermann and Magnus Lindberg’s “2nd Piano Concerto” with soloist Yefim Bronfman. Also on the program Dvorak’s “7th Symphony” and his "Carnival Overture".

Sunday night December 3 at 6:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 you’ll hear Faure’s “Opus 120 Piano Trio” from Lincoln Center followed at 7:00 by “Music from Catalonia” on “Fiesta” and at 8:00 by Hailstork’s “An American Port of Call” on “Gateways Radio”.

Wednesday night November 29 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra. Inon Barnatan is the piano soloist in Beethoven’s “4th Piano Concerto”. Roderick Cox guest conducts. Also on the program Richard Strauss’ “Don Juan” and Sibelius’ “5th Symphony”.

Tuesday night November 28 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra Radio Broadcast”. You’ll hear guest conductors Neeme Jarvi and others conduct works by Franck, Kodaly, and Khachaturian. Also on the program John Williams’ “Suite from ‘Memoirs of a Geisha’” featuring cellist Yo-Yo Ma.

Monday night November 27 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”. You’ll hear Anne-Sophie von Otter sing “Six Orchestrated Songs” by Schubert as well as Tchaikovsky’s “Romeo and Juliet Fantasy-Overture”, Haydn’s “88th Symphony” and Prokofiev’s “5th Symphony”.

Sunday night November 26 at 6:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 you’ll hear Amy Beach’s “Piano Quintet” from Lincoln Center followed at 7:00 by indigenously inspired classical music on “Fiesta” and at 8:00 by a cello recital by Thapelo Masita on “Gateways Radio”.
