The Evening Concert

Sunday night October 13 at 6:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL, 90.9FM/HD1 you’ll hear Beethoven’s “Harp” String Quartet from Lincoln Center followed at 7:00 by “Classical Music from Puerto Rico” on Fiesta and at 8:00 by Gateways Radio.

Thursday night October 10 at 7:00 on WILL, 90.9FM/HD1 you’ll hear another episode of “The Sound of 13”, a program that investigates the intersection between the 13th Amendment and classical music. At 8:00 it’s “The Middle”: a weekly, non-partisan call-in talk show on politics.  

Wednesday night October 9 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL, 90.9FM/HD1 it’s the second program in a new series from the European Broadcasting Union. Yuja Wang is the soloist in Prokofiev’s “1st Piano Concerto” with the Berlin Philharmonic led by Vasily Petrenko. Also on the program Ravel’s “Bolero”. 

Tuesday night October 8 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL, 90.9FM/HD1 it’s the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra Radio Broadcast”.  You’ll hear Shostakovich’s “1st Suite for Variety Orchestra” and selections from Prokofiev’s “Romeo and Juliet”. Also on the program John Adams’ “The Chairman Dances”.

Monday night October 7 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL, 90.9FM/HD1 it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”. From the archives you’ll hear Maxim Vengerov as the soloist in Mendelssohn’s E Minor “Violin Concerto”. Lorin Maazel conducts. Also on the program Beethoven’s “7th Symphony”. 

Sunday night October 6 at 6:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL, 90.9FM/HD1 you’ll hear two string quartets by Shostakovich from Lincoln Center followed at 7:00 by music of Luis Pasquet on Fiesta and at 8:00 by Gateways Radio.

You’ll hear the Vienna Philharmonic led by Riccardo Muti in audience favorites like Brahms’ “Hungarian Dances” and Grieg’s “Morning” from “Peer Gynt”. 

Tuesday night October 1 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL, 90.9FM/HD1 it’s the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra Radio Broadcast”.  Andras Schiff is the soloist in Dohnanyi’s “Variations on a Nursery Song” for piano and orchestra. Also on the program Del Tredici’s “Final Alice”.

Monday night September 30 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL, 90.9FM/HD1 it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”. Sharon Isbin is the guitar soloist in Manuel Ponce’s “Concierto del sur”. Also on the program Manuel de Falla’s “The Three-Cornered Hat” and “El Amor Brujo”.
