The Evening Concert

Wednesday night December 4 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL 90.9FM/HD1. You’ll hear the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra play Tchaikovsky’s “2nd Symphony” and Stravinsky’s “Suite No. 2”.  Elim Chan conducts. Also on the program Bartok’s “2nd Violin Concerto” with soloist Maria Duenas.

Tuesday night December 3 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL  90.9FM/HD1 it’s the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra Radio Broadcast”.  You’ll hear principal players from the CSO play works that feature them as soloists, like Arnold Jacobs in the Vaughan Williams “Tuba Concerto”. 

Monday night December 2 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL  90.9FM/HD1 it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”. Sheku Kanneh-Mason is the soloist in Dvorak’s “Cello Concerto”. Also on the program Webern’s arrangement of Bach’s “Ricercata from The Musical Offering” and Brahms “1st Symphony”.

Sunday night December 1 at 6:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL 90.9FM/HD1 you’ll hear Mozart’s “Prussian” string quartet from Lincoln Center followed at 7:00 by chamber music from Brazil, Argentina, and Mexico on Fiesta and at 8:00 by Gateways Radio.

Tonight at 7:00 on WILL 90.9FM/HD1 it’s “Early Music Now with Sara Schneider”. You'll hear music in celebration of St. Cecilia’s Day, which differs from the listing in Patterns Magazine.

Thursday night November 28 at 7:00 on WILL 90.9FM/HD1 “The Sound of 13” is pre-empted so that we can bring you a Thanksgiving-themed program “Every Good Thing” hosted by Andrea Blain.  At 8:00 it’s “The Middle”: a weekly, non-partisan call-in talk show on politics.

Wednesday night November 27 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL 90.9FM/HD1. Evgeny Kissin is the soloist in Rachmaninoff’s “3rd Piano Concerto.  Krzysztof Urbanski lead the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra.  Also on the program Shostakovich’s “10th Symphony”.  

Tuesday night November 26 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL  90.9FM/HD1 it’s the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra Radio Broadcast”.  From the archives you’ll hear Pierre Boulez conduct the CSO in Stravinsky’s “The Firebird”, Bartok’s “Music for Strings, Percussion and Celesta” and Mahler’s “Totenfeier”. 

Monday night November 25 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL  90.9FM/HD1 it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”. Conrad Tao is the soloist in Mozart’s “Piano Concerto No.17”. Also on the program Debussy’s “Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun” and Respighi’s “Pines of Rome”.

Sunday night November 24 at 6:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL 90.9FM/HD1 you’ll hear music by William Bolcom from Lincoln Center followed at 7:00 by music by Sor and Rodrigo on Fiesta and at 8:00 by Gateways Radio.
