The Evening Concert

Tuesday night November 5 at 7:00 on WILL  90.9FM/HD1 our regularly scheduled “Chicago Symphony Orchestra Radio Broadcast” is pre-empted so that we can bring you live coverage of the 2024 Election from National Public Radio and Illinois Public Media.

Monday night November 4 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL  90.9FM/HD1 it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”. You’ll hear Mussorgsky’s “Night on Bald Mountain”, Berlioz’s “Dream of a Witches’ Sabbath” and Bach’s famous “Toccata and Fugue in D Minor”.

Sunday night November 3 at 6:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL 90.9FM/HD1 you’ll hear Bach’s “3rd Brandenburg Concerto” from Lincoln Center followed at 7:00 by music inspired by the “Day of the Dead” on Fiesta and at 8:00 by Gateways Radio.

Friday night November 1 at 7:00 on WILL 90.9FM/HD1 it’s “Early Music Now with Sara Schneider”. You'll hear a program that celebrates “All Saints’ Day”. Broadcasting this program on Friday’s at 7:00 PM gives us time to collect new local recordings for use on future “Prairie Performances”. 

Thursday night October 31 at 7:00 on WILL 90.9FM/HD1 you’ll hear another episode of “The Sound of 13”, a program that investigates the intersection between the 13th Amendment and classical music. At 8:00 it’s “The Middle”: a weekly, non-partisan call-in talk show on politics.  

Wednesday night October 30 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL 90.9FM/HD1 you’ll hear Daniil Trifonov as soloist in Mason Bates’ “Piano Concerto” with the German Symphony Orchestra, Berlin led by Ruth Rheinhardt. Also on the program Dvorak’s “5th Symphony”.

Tuesday night October 29 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL  90.9FM/HD1 it’s the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra Radio Broadcast”.  Guest conductor Jakub Hrůša leads the group in Mahler’s “Ninth Symphony”. Also on the program chamber music by Hailstork and Caroline Shaw.

Monday night October 28 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL  90.9FM/HD1 it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”. You’ll hear Mozart’s “2nd Flute Concerto”, Barber’s “Violin Concerto” and Copland’s “Clarinet Concerto” featuring principal players from the Philharmonic.  

Sunday night October 27 at 6:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL 90.9FM/HD1 you’ll hear Brahms’ “1st Piano Quartet” from Lincoln Center followed at 7:00 by “Baroque Music from the Spanish & Portuguese Empires” on Fiesta and at 8:00 by Gateways Radio.

Friday night October 25 at 7:00 on WILL 90.9FM/HD1 it’s “Early Music Now with Sara Schneider”. You'll hear a program of “Recent Releases”. Broadcasting this program on Friday’s at 7:00 PM gives us time to collect new local recordings for use on future “Prairie Performances”.
