Schumann’s Piano Concerto and Bruckner’s 4th Symphony on Beethovenfest in Bonn

Tonight at 7:00 on the Evening Concert on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s the last of the “Beethovenfest in Bonn” programs from Deutsche Welle Radio. Saleem Abboud Ashkar is featured in Schumann’s “Piano Concerto” with the NDR Symphony Orchestra led by Thomas Hengelbrock. Also on the program: Elgar’s “Enigma Variations” and Bruckner’s 4th Symphony, the “Romantic”.

Tonight at 7:00 on the Evening Concert on WILL FM-90.9, Alexander Sitkovetsky and Colin Carr play Ravel’s “Sonata for Violin and Cello” on “The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center”. At 8:00 Tara Helen O'Connor is featured in works by Couperin and Villa-Lobos, plus the St. Lawrence String Quartet plays one of the Haydn Quartets on the “Spoleto Chamber Music Festival”.

Tonight at 7:00 on the Evening Concert on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”.  The Philharmonic goes into its archives for tonight’s performance of Bruckner’s 8th Symphony with Zubin Mehta on the podium. Also on the program, Mozart’s “Prague” Symphony, Neeme Jarvi conducts.

Violinist Patricia Kopachinskaja is featured in Beethoven’s “Violin Concerto” with the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra led by Jonathan Nott. She’s also featured in a Divertimento by Mozart, Enescu’s “Third Violin Sonata” and a Rumanian Folk Dance or two by Bartok.
