Thursday night September 14 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s “Carnegie Hall Live”. Soprano Jeanine De Bique sings arias by Handel like “Ah, mio cor” and “Ombre pallide” from Alcina, plus arias by Leonardo Vinci and Carl Heinrich Graun. She’s accompanied by Concerto Koln.
Wednesday night September 13 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s the Los Angeles Philharmonic. You’ll hear Richard Strauss’ “Rosenkavalier” Suite and the US premier of a new work by Icelandic composer Anna Thorvaldsdottr. Also on the program Beethoven’s “4th Piano Concerto” with soloist Pierre-Laurent Aimard.
Tuesday night September 12 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra Radio Broadcast”. The featured work is Schubert’s “5th Symphony”. Erina Yashima guest conducts. Also on the program “Novelettes Nos. 3 & 4” by Samuel Coleridge-Taylor and Jessie Montgomery’s “Strum”.
Monday night September 11 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”. You’ll hear Dvorak’s “Cello Concerto” with soloist Sheku Kanneh-Mason in his ‘charismatic’ debut with the Philharmonic. Also on the program Brahms’ “1st Symphony”.
Sunday night September 10 at 6:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 you’ll hear Richard Strauss’ “Metamorphosen” from Lincoln Center followed at 7:00 by music of composer Breno Blauth on “Fiesta” and at 8:00 by Valerie Coleman’s “Afro” on “Gateways Radio”.
Thursday night September 7 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s “Carnegie Hall Live”. Dame Mitsuko Uchida is the piano soloist and conductor of the Mahler Chamber Orchestra in Mozart’s “25th and 27th Piano Concertos”. Also on the program the Schoenberg’s “Chamber Symphony”.
Wednesday night September 6 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Recorded in May of this year you’ll hear LA Phil’s Principal Violinist Martin Chalifour as soloist in the Dvorak “Violin Concerto”. Also on the program Bruckner’s “7th Symphony”.
Tuesday night September 5 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra Radio Broadcast”. You’ll hear Sibelius’ “Finlandia” and “5th Symphony” and “The Swan of Tuonela”. Hannu Lintu guest conducts. Also on the program Nielsens’ “Violin Concerto” with soloist Pekka Kuusisto.
Monday night September 4 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”. You’ll hear Respighi’s “Roman Festivals” and “Pines of Rome”. Also on the program Holst’s “The Planets”.
Sunday night September 3 at 6:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 you’ll hear Hummel’s “Piano Quintet” from Lincoln Center followed at 7:00 by Mexican music for the piano on “Fiesta” and at 8:00 by Hailstork’s “An American Port of Call” on “Gateways Radio”.
